Penta Pattern and Model Support Students of BKHS Bablake School in their F1 in Schools Project

Manufacturing company, Penta Pattern and Model Ltd, have become an Emerald sponsor for Zephyrus, a team of young people from BKHS Bablake School in Coventry taking part in the F1 in Schools challenge.

F1 in Schools Ltd is a not-for-profit company that provides a global multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged 9 to 19 deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature compressed air powered cars made from F1 model block.

The 6 students that make up BKHS Bablake School’s team, Zephyrus, started their journey 4 years ago and have previously made it to the national finals. This year they are hoping to reach the international finals.

Penta Pattern and Model have opted for the top sponsorship package and become an Emerald sponsor, which requires a financial contribution of £200 to support the team.

The Emerald package includes:

  • Title sponsor
  • Sponsor location on the wing, sidepod, wheel, main body and team uniform
  • Recognition on social media and in their portfolio
  • Talks within the school
  • Company event promotion

As part of the project the team must also raise funds to cover the cost of parts needed for the car, general manufacturing costs, to make a high-quality pit displays and to produce team merchandise. All of the proceeds collected on their GoFundMe page and from sponsorship contributions will contribute to the team’s development through the competition.

Managing Director for Penta Pattern and Model Ltd, Neil Walker said:

“Here at Penta our main line of work is manufacturing patterns, tooling and composite components for a number of the Formula 1 teams. So, this is an ideal opportunity for us because not only do we get to support young people who are exploring our industry but who also share our passion for Formula 1.

It is a truly remarkable project and we can’t wait to see how Zephyrus progress through the competition.”

Zephyrus’s Team Leader, Joshua Ogbonna, said:

“Our team have been working extremely hard and we are making good progress in the run up to the competition. The car we will be racing at the regional finals is already machined and is currently in the process of being painted.

We are grateful for the support that Penta Pattern and Model have shown our team. The fact that we both share an interest in F1 makes their sponsorship even more meaningful.

The financial element of their sponsorship package allows us to further develop our car which will open up more opportunities for us in the competition.”
